The teardrop motif is also called "mango" in South Asia due its resemblance to the fruit turned on its side - including the bend at the edge of the teardrop.

Paisley usually identifies as a curved teardrop shape with a bent end point. I'm not sure if any vegetable pattern can be identified as paisley.

Also, while it originated in Persia, paisley was carried over to Mughal India and thus heavily features in Indian Muslim design and architecture.

Beautiful rug - synthetic according to the shop, yet still has a genuine Persian carpet look to it.
