This disney-tech bedroom would be fun to live in. the nightstand is complimenting the room quite well.
Orange blue and white complement each other nicely in this shot. Even though the table itself is beautiful, the lamp and the rest of the room are a bit too sci-fi for your average household.
Modern furniture is all about function over form. This isn't to say that things can't look good if function dictates the form.

Notice how they're attempted to balance the boxy white drawer chest with the orange round lampshade straight out of Star Wars.
Modern furniture is influenced by modernism. The implication is that decoration be minimised and function should heavily influence the design.
